girls soccer club

The Haiti Projects’ girls soccer club was founded in 2013 by Molly Klarman and Taryn Silver Lorthe. Our soccer club provides young girls in Fond des Blancs not only with an after school activity, but a chance to build self-confidence, leadership and critical life skills in hopes to become leaders in their community.

With over 100 girls ages 13-20 participating the club is comprised of five teams based on the area of Fond des Blancs the girls reside. The girls practice and play games three times a week, attend health education sessions led by our Family Health Clinic staff, and give back to their community through various service activities. They also participate in tournaments with surrounding towns.

Your purchases and donations help to keep nearly 100 women of our community employed at Fair Trade wages, support our beekeeping and soccer programs, boost self-confidence and help women to become leaders of their community.  The income these women bring in is critical as they are, in many cases, the sole caregivers for their children and a source of strength for their community.
